Successful businesses don’t just happen and they certainly don’t happen in a vacuum. On March 8 at The Club in Birmingham, Ala., the Alabama Self-Insured Worker’s Compensation Fund (ASIWCF) celebrated 40 years of providing best-in-class workers’ compensation coverage to the employers of Alabama with its partners, clients and members– all of whom have contributed to its success.

“My grandparents joined the fund in 1978. When I joined the business, my grandmother stressed to me how much she appreciated the Alabama Self-Insured Worker’s Compensation Fund, and because of the outstanding customer service and value our company has always received, we have continued to be loyal fund members. I am proud to serve on its Board of Trustees to ensure that it is here for another 40 years and beyond,” said Don Hendry, President of ASIWCF’s oldest member, Pinson Valley Heat Treating Company..

With member payrolls exceeding $6 billion, the ASIWCF covers companies of all sizes in the manufacturing, construction, wholesale, retail and service industries. Businesses in Alabama know they are protected from unexpected costs due to workplace injuries, and employees know they have the best care available if they have an accident on the job.

“It was an honor to celebrate this milestone with our staff, members and partners. We are proud of our diverse member base and believe it is the secret to our success. With a 98 percent retention rate in 2017, we look forward to growing and serving our members for many more years,” said Freda Bacon, administrator at ASIWCF.
