How THE FUND Turned One Company’s Workers’ Comp Situation Around
At THE FUND, our focus has always been on our members—their workers’ comp coverage, their safety and ultimately, their goals. For more than 40 years, we’ve delivered commitment and consistency—without compromise—starting with our longest running client who has been a member of THE FUND since the beginning.
The following is their success story.
During a time when commercial carriers of workers’ compensation coverage left the state entirely, Pinson Valley Heat Treating Company, Inc. (PVHT) found themselves in desperate need of workers’ compensation coverage after losing coverage by their commercial provider. In addition, the family-owned Alabama company, which specializes in heat treatment and related services of metal products, wanted to reduce workplace injuries for their employees while increasing overall safety awareness among its workforce.
Seeking a provider that could develop key relationships with workers’ compensation partners, PVHT desired to create and maintain an effective all encompassing safety program to include loss prevention, control and training. With no other viable workers’ compensation option available, THE FUND stepped in to provide the coverage and services that PVHT needed to improve company safety and compliance, and reduce their overall injury rate.
After assessing PVHT’s processes, THE FUND immediately implemented several strategic initiatives that centered on enhancing and maintaining workplace safety by:
- Developing a top-down approach for safety awareness, starting with supervisors
- Establishing safety as a priority and as a primary topic in all meetings and reviews
- Instituting a tiered safety program focused on continuous training for all employees
- Creating a new position to develop all training, including safety-related training and programs that kept the company leadership focused on safety
- Ensuring employees understood their role in maintaining a safe work environment
- Providing effective accident investigation to follow-up and correct safety-related issues
Previously, Pinson Valley Heat Treating struggled with hard hat compliance. THE FUND educated employees about how to maintain safety— effectively reducing head injuries to NEAR NON-EXISTENT LEVELS.
As the oldest and longest running member of THE FUND, PVHT saw immediate improvement in safety and has been benefiting from the workers’ compensation services and safety efforts of THE FUND for more than 40 years. When issues have arisen, THE FUND has stepped up to support and enhance company efforts to continuously improve the work environment.
“There can’t be another company in the industry that provides better service for the prevention of work place injuries. If an accident does happen, I never worry about claims being paid or my employees receiving the best care that can be provided. THE FUND makes sure that our employees are taken care of and that they know that is our number one priority. Providers know and respect THE FUND and work with them to provide win-win solutions in the most cost-effective manner.”
